Vibes Event Center hosted GWAR on Saturday, November 8, 2025, as part of their Return of Gor Gor Tour, supported by Helmet, The Dwarves, and Blood Vulture. The stop marked the band’s first San Antonio appearance since announcing their 2025 tour, which spans through late fall across major U.S. cities (CL Tampa, 2025).

Known for their elaborate costumes and interactive stage design, GWAR continues to approach performance as immersive theater. Most sets involve spewing red fluid from a high powered hose into the crowd. In a recent interview with The Big Takeover, members described the tour as a celebration of both continuity and reinvention—retaining the shock-driven stagecraft that has defined the group for decades while introducing new thematic material.

The Return of Gor Gor Tour has kept that visual identity intact. As Phoenix New Times reported from the Tempe stop earlier this fall, the group’s sets are marked by what audiences have come to expect: heavy instrumentation, sculpted prosthetics, and exaggerated physical spectacle that blurs the line between performance and parody (Phoenix New Times, 2025).

Support came from Helmet, whose precision-driven alternative metal remains rooted in minimal structure and sharp tonality. The Dwarves followed with their brand of punk-leaning aggression, while Blood Vulture opened with a brief but forceful set.

GWAR continues to function as a live institution in central Texas. Beneath the spectacle, the group’s endurance lies in its ability to sustain a singular creative vision—one that has outlasted trends, eras, and even members, while keeping audiences returning for the chaos.
