(Interview) Fire From the Gods: Reignited and Ready to Incinerate
"These days there is so much going on in the world that inspires us, but we are also inspired by our own personal struggles we have to deal with"

Fire From the Gods have never been the type to sit still. From day one, they’ve been tackling real issues, throwing down heavy anthems and making the mosh pit feel like a second home for their loyal following.
Now with Myke Terry stepping in on vocals and a brand-new single (“Incinerate”) setting the tone, the band’s heading into a bold new chapter. And trust me — their upcoming show at The Rock Box on August 15 is going to be wild and I’ll be right up front for it!
But, before they hit the stage, I got to catch up with Drummer Richard Wicander to talk about the new lineup, the studio vibes, and what’s lighting the fuse on this next era of Fire From the Gods.
You recently brought in Myke Terry as the new vocalist. What made him the right fit for this moment in Fire From the Gods’ journey?
We have all been friends for years now, toured together a bunch and always hung out while in LA making records. We all got together at our studio and basically said let’s just write some music and see what happens. After just three days we had accomplished so many new songs and the vibes were immaculate. Thats how we knew this was going to be a great fit!
You just dropped “Incinerate” — your first single with Myke. What’s the story behind the song, and does it mark the beginning of a new chapter sonically or lyrically?
The song is about a journey through hell on earth as we live it today, dealing with pressure from all angles of life, systematically being pushed to the edge until it all incinerates, ending in a nuclear fallout where we all float away into the Unknown. Hence why the ending flips the energy of the song on its head. This does not mark a certain sound we are going for in the future, rather tapping into our roots of heavy music. We have always made songs in any style or genre blend, and that will never change with FFTG.
With a new lineup comes new chemistry. What’s the vibe in the rehearsal room or studio been like lately?
Honestly, the vibes have never been better. The reason we have been moving so quickly is because of our chemistry as a band with Myke. We jam, write, rehearse, record and repeat until we love it! Prepping for this tour was such a dope and productive time.
How do you keep pushing boundaries while staying true to the message and identity Fire From the Gods has built over the years?
That's just what we always try to do and always have done. We all share the same values which makes it easy to create music together!
You've always had something to say — from Narrative to Soul Revolution, the band has tackled real-world issues. What’s inspiring your writing in 2025?
You know, this band, even before Narrative, had a message that talked about social and systematic issues. These days there is so much going on in the world that inspires us, but we are also inspired by our own personal struggles we have to deal with. Sometimes putting yourself in a song makes it so much more relatable.
What do you hope fans take away from your set at
The Rock Box on August 15
To witness a new, exciting chapter of this band! We will be playing 3 new songs that are not released yet on top of the brand new single “Incinerate”.
Your music often addresses political tensions, social awareness, and personal struggle. With a new vocalist onboard, are you writing around similar issues or diving into fresh territory?
We are definitely still talking about these topics while exploring new ones as well. There is a new song about dealing with the loss of loved ones as well as a song about fighting yourself your entire life just to find a way to feel something.
You’ve just released your first single with Myke—“Incinerate.” What does this track mean for the band at this moment? Does it set a new tone for the upcoming shows and your future releases?
We wanted to write something really heavy that sets off the moshpit at our shows! We will keep evolving our sound and you can count on big melodic songs as well.
Songwriting can be extremely rewarding when playing live, is there a song or a specific lyric that really puts you in the “pinch me” moment when the crowd is singing it back to you?
Anytime people sing the songs back to us we get that feeling for sure. Every show changes and its always fun to see what songs people resonate with.
Quick-fire questions:
What’s one word to describe your band now?
Rejuvenated
What’s the most chaotic or unforgettable thing that’s happened to you mid-set?
Korn spraying us with silly string mid song to where it was all over our gear, drums, in our mouths and hair. It was pretty hilarious but also tasted awful!
If your band had a theme song outside your own discography, what would it be and why?
George Michael - Careless Whisper
Catch Fire From the Gods live at The Rock Box on August 15 with Special Guests, '68, Notions, Donella Drive and Westcreek.
